When Thomas A. Edison received a brand new Model T from his neighbor Henry Ford, he chose The Wheeler Company (now Chris-Tel Construction) to build a carriage house. It’s one of the reasons we were selected in a national competition for the multi-million dollar restoration of the Edison Winter Estate.
Under the direction of Parker, Mudgett & Smith Architects, Chris-tel’s large staff of certified craftsmen ensured the preservation of important historic detail, from the careful numbering of chimney bricks for accurate reassembly in the Moonlight Garden to the painstaking reglazing of all windows and doors with antique glass. The project was finished in record time and within budget and is the winner of a State of Florida Historic Preservation 2007 Award Click here to watch a short video of recently completed restoration projects |
